The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) operates autonomously as an institution within the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, which is part of the Government of India.

NIOS is the largest open schooling system in the world, serving through more than 6000 study centers across the country. The NOS was set up in 1989 under the ministry of education GOI.

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) offers a variety of Courses/Programmes, including open basic education, senior secondary education course, vocational course, and life enhancement programmes, through open and distance learning (ODL) mode.

The headquarters of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is located in Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. NIOS has 23 regional centers, 2 sub-regional centers, 2 NIOS cells, and over 7,400 study centers spread across India.

NIOS Recruitment Education Qualification & Experience

Deputy Director (Capacity Building Cell) – Second Class Master’s Degree in any subject & Officers holding same level 12 post or 5 year experience holding level 11 post.

Deputy Director (Academic) : Second Class Master’s Degree in any subject with at least 55 % marks, 5 year office holding experience of level 11, or 10 year experience of level 10 post.

Assistant Director (Administration) : Bachelors Degree and 5 year experience on level 10 post or 8 year experience on level 7 post.

Academic Officer (Paramedical Courses) : Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at least 55 % marks and working knowledge of computers, hindi & english. Desirable- M.Phil. / PHD in relevant subject. or PG in Distance Education.

Academic Officer (Teacher Education) : Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at least 55 % marks and working knowledge of computers, hindi & english. Desirable- M.Phil. / PHD in relevant subject. or PG in Distance Education. Experience in writing lessons and teaching materials.

Academic Officer (Techonology) : Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at least 55 % marks and working knowledge of computers, hindi & english. Desirable- M.Phil. / PHD in relevant subject. or PG in Distance Education. Experience in writing lessons and teaching materials.

Academic Officer (Computer Science) : Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at least 55 % marks and working knowledge of computers, hindi & english. Desirable- M.Phil. / PHD in relevant subject. or PG in Distance Education. Experience in writing lessons and teaching materials.

Section Officer : Second Class Graduate in any subject, 5 year of experience at level 6, or 10 year experience at level 4 and knowledge of computers. working knowledge of computers, hindi & english

Public Relations Officer : 2nd class master’s degree and diploma in journalism/ mass communication/ public relations OR 5 year experience at level 6 position. Working knowledge of computers, hindi & english

EDP Supervisor : Bachelor’s Degree in any subject and PGDCA/ Hardware Engineering diploma and 3 year experience of programming in reputed company OR 10 year experience at level 4 position in any govt/ autonomous institution.

Graphic Artist : Second class Graduate with Diploma in Fine Arts, Certificate in Multimedia, . Proficiency in computer Animation/Preparation of Multimedia Packages, and knowledge of Hindi & English.

Junior Engineer Electrical : Diploma in Electrical Engineering, 3 year experience in related field, knowledge of computers. working knowledge of computers, hindi & english.

Assistant : 12th pass and Proficiency in office procedures, note-taking, drafting, familiarity with Government Rules and Regulations, and proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 8000 keystrokes per hour, working knowledge of Hindi and English languages.

Stenographer : 12th pass and Certificate/Diploma in Secretarial Practice, Speed in shorthand in English/Hindi @80 w.p.m. with computer speed of 8000 key depressions per hour. Desirable : 3 year experience as stenographer.

Junior Assistant : 12th pass and Working on computers with a speed of not less than 6000 key depressions per hour and knowledge of Hindi & English. Desirable : Bachelor’s Degree, certificate in computers and 2 year experience in related field.

Multi-Tasking-Staff : Primary School Pass.

EDP Supervisor, Graphic Artist, JE (Electrical) and Multi Tasking Staff – Selection made through Computer based Test only.
Assistant, Stenographer and Junior Assistant Selection made through Computer based test and Skill Test – Computer Typing Test or Steno short-hand test as applicable.

NIOS Group A B C Recruitment Application Fees

Application fees for all the posts are different based on group A, B, C check details :

Deputy Director, Assistant Director, Academic Officers : UR/OBC 1500 rs, and SC/ST/ EWS -750 rs.

For all other post (Group B & C) Application fees for UR/OBC 1200 rupees, and Group ‘B’ (SC/ST)- 750 rupees, Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ (EWS) – 600 rupees, Group ‘C’ (SC/ST) – 500 rupees.
